Prerequisite: NURS - 783. Corequisite: NURS - 790. This course emphasizes the management of external forces which affect patient care delivery in various settings and throughout the health care delivery system. The historical context and ethical dimensions of health care delivery will be discussed. Students will have an opportunity to link conceptual elements of managerial practice to strategic, legal, regulatory, technological, and structural processes of clinical systems. The effect of the external environment on the management of quality, service utilization, and case management of populations will be discussed.
