This course is an introduction to major sociological approaches to law and society. Theoretical perspectives are used to examine how the social structure shapes and is shaped by the creation and operation of law, including case studies of antidiscrimination law in the United States and other topics (such as immigration and international human rights) that illustrate the challenges facing law in the context of global capitalism.
