An examination, from the perspectives of geography and space, of the complex of processes often described as globalization. The course will focus on the changing spatial patterns of political and economic power since the 1970s and evaluate future scenarios in a world in which the territorial aspirations of political communities clash with globalizing flows. Particular attention will be given to the articulation of global and local processes in Hartford and their impact on everyday life in the city.
