Who creates art What is the nature of the creative process How do artists' social identities-ethnic, racial, gendered-shape their arts practice What role do the arts have in affirming and/or questioning society at large This seminar will explore the ways in which artists shape and, at the same time, are shaped by specific political, cultural, and historical forces.
