Introduction to discrete mathematics as applied to computer science, providing a solid theoretic foundation for further work that is illustrated by computing applications. Topics include functions, relations, sets, simple proof techniques, Boolean algebra, propositional logic, digital logic, elementary number theory, and the foundations of counting such as combinations and permutations. Prerequisite: MATH 1150 or four years of high school mathematics.
