1 Semester Hour This course will introduce health concepts, skills, and behaviors important for today's students to make informed choices. Candidates will be able to gather, interpret, evaluate, and use health information and topics in their future activities as teachers. The course consists of four modules: 1) overview of the California health framework and consumer and community health resources; 2) personal health with a focus on nutrition and tobacco, drugs, and alcohol use; 3) health choices that impact communicable and chronic diseases; and 4) the role of environmental health with a focus on injury prevention and safety. Fee required. Credit/No Credit.
