This is a capstone class for the forensic chemistry degree. It will focus on standard and non-standard methods in forensic science. Lecture and laboratory concentrate on quantitative and qualitative drug analyses, fingerprint visualization techniques, ballistics, DNA analyses, and chemical analyses of evidence. Gas chromatography, atomic absorption spectrometry, and infrared spectroscopy techniques will be used to differentiate evidence. In this course much time will be spent on mechanisms of the analyses facilitating critical thinking skills. Prerequisites: Completion of Pre Criminal Justice Core, CHEM332 and CJUS444.
