A study of the nature, transmission, recombination and function of hereditary material in animals, plants and microorganisms. The lecture includes Mendelian, molecular and population genetics. The laboratory includes exercises in Mendelian genetics, cytogenetics, recombinant DNA, and computer simulations of population genetics. Meets ethics component of general education requirements.
