This course will familiarize the student in using the Internet. The course will highlight how to use the Internet for research and information queries. A brief history of the Internet will be reviewed as well as steps to connect to the Internet. The course will introduce the students to file transfer protocols, web browsers, search engines and newsgroups. Each student will gain exposure to surfing the net for both business and personal use. The course will emphasize a hands on approach and make use of lecture and discussion methods. Homework will consist of reading and web page development. Prerequisites: Basic familiarity with Windows 95 and Microsoft Word is mandatory. An existing student account on Shrike is required for class participation and projects.
