Your own memories and experiences can be the basis of the nonfiction memoir, but to be effective such writing must do more than just recite facts or label feelings. How do you create a vivid, exciting piece of writing from the events of your life This class explores the nonfiction memoir, with special emphasis on the spiritual autobiography. Students will read selections from contemporary memoirs as well as a full-length book of their choicing; the final project is a short personal memoir. Pre-1999 Competence: AL-2.
