This course will provide an introduction to economics as it has developed in the 20th century. It will investigate how markets work and explain what macroeconomics means. These concepts will be discussed and the necessary vocabulary defined. The emphasis on the evolution of economics will generate thought provoking discussions including: the effect of the increasing number of industrialized countries on the United States economy; changes in streams of income and its effect on the middle class; the interrelationship of technological changes and economy.
