Transpersonal psychology differentiates from other schools of psychology by defining health as the full expression and integration of the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of human beings. This course provides an introduction to the basic theory of this more expansive model of psychology, explores the meaning and implications of spirituality and health, and offers students an opportunity to assess their own level of wellness according to the transpersonal model. Learning methods will include lectures, group discussions, and assignments in selected course readings. Self-assessment exercises will include guided imagery, meditation, dream work, self-selective journaling, and other transpersonal methods. An integrative paper is required.
