A sympathetic study of Roman Catholic theology, with particular attention to developments since the Second Vatican Council (1962-1965) Topics include scripture and tradition; grace and justification; church, liturgy, and sacraments; ethics and the church in the modern world; death and the afterlife; Marian devotion; ecumenism; ecclesiastical authority and papal infallibility; and the pontificate of John Paul II. Prerequisite: 131 or an Intermediate theological studies course.
