Issues examined include the dichotomy between the sacred and the profane, the nature of religious experience and its various expressions in life, the significance of myth and ritual, and differing analyses of human existence. Attention is also given to questions about the origin, nature, and function of religion in human life and society, and to issues pertaining to the study of religion in the humanities and social sciences.
