F. This practicum course provides the student with an introduction to community based nursing as well as the opportunity to implement strategies to promote and protect the mental health of persons across the lifespan. Students will assume basic roles of the professional nurse and utilize skills of assessment, communication, critical thinking, and nursing process to design and provide empirically based nursing care to individuals in a variety of acute care and community-based settings. Prerequisites: Limited to students who have been admitted to the upper division nursing major.
