A survey of francophone culture and society in North America from the time of the French colonial period to the present through an overview of literature (theater, novel, poetry) and various media (film, music, news) While special attention will be given to the province of Quebec, the course will also examine French-speaking communities in areas such as Louisiana, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Manitoba. Conducted mainly in French. Prerequisite: French 215 or 216, 217 recommended. Not offered 2008-2009.
