F. Advanced heat transfer, thermodynamic, and fluid flow topics important for the design of thermal systems are presented. Availability (exergy) analysis and methods for the optimization of system components are given. Selection and design of fluid flow and heat transfer equipment used in energy conversion systems are emphasized. Economic evaluation is studied. A co-generation system is studied throughout the semester to emphasize basic principles of analysis and design. A project is required. Prerequisite: Engineering 328.
