The course focuses on the conflict between expectations of communication in society and the realities of politics and economics. It includes issues such as the representation of social or ethnic groups in ownership of media and in communications professions, the interplay of social responsibility theory and the development of media monopolies. It also applies the principle of social justice in an examination of these political and economic issues. Not offered 2008-2009.
