S. An examination of early language development research in phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Theories of lan- guage acquisition and implications for practice are examined. Particular attention is given to the role of adults in language development and to the relationship between language development and cognitive development. Also listed as Education 311.
