S. This is a study of the major arts of ancient Greek and Roman civilization from the Bronze Age to the late Empire. Primary attention is devoted to the origins and development of Greek sculpture, painting, and ar- chitecture, and to their transformation in the arts of Rome. Ancient literary sources supplement the study of physical remains in this investigation of Greek and Roman culture.
