F, even years. A fundamental study in the chemistry of all elements with emphases on periodicity, symmetry, bonding, and reactivity. Types of compounds discussed include ionic solids, cage compounds, organometallic compounds, coordination compounds, and bioinorganic compounds. Electronic and magnetic characteristics are studied in depth. A significant component of the course involves studying advances in inorganic chemistry from peer-reviewed literature. Laboratory. Prerequisite: Chemistry 304 or 317.
