Unique Course This course serves as an introduction to the characteristics and exceptionalities of adolescents and is required for all middle and secondary education majors. The student will learn to understand the major influences on adolescent development and behavior including biological, cultural, peer, and family conditions as well as how educational programming practices aid adolescents in the development process. In addition, students will identify retardation and developmental disabilities, speech and hearing disabilities, other health impairments, and giftedness. Finally, students will study local, state, and national administrative and legislative provisions that support adolescents with these conditions. PreRequisite: PSYC-101 3 semester hours
