3 hours This course addresses the use of mental health nursing principles to promote, maintain, and restore optimum functioning for patients with neuropsychiatric disorders. It builds on concepts of behavior and interpersonal and communication skills learned in prior nursing courses. Emphasis is placed upon psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological interventions, as well as the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders. Prerequisites: 200 level nursing courses. Core Prerequisites: NU 330, NU 331, NU 333.
