Introduction to the primary geologic principles and processes of our planet. Topics include the structure and history of the earth, the unifying theory of plate tectonics, earth materials, the rock cycle, volcanoes, earthquakes, the hydrologic cycle. The laboratory emphasizes hands-on experiments involving scientific problems-solving and an introduction to some of the tools and techniques used by geologists today. Lecture, laboratory.
