For non-science majors. Fulfills GE Natural Science Inquiry. This course introduces the basic principles of biology in three major components - the structure and function of living organisms, interactions of the organisms with their environment (ecology), and the ways organisms change over time (genetics and evolution). In the laboratory part of this course the students will learn analytical techniques that will enable them to work in teams to make hypotheses, obtain and analyze data and present their conclusions both in oral and written formats. Lecture and lab. (Offered as needed.) 4 credits.
