Topics covered include Judaism in the Christian and Islamic Empires: mysticism and philosophy; Enlightenment and Emancipation; Jews in Western Europe and the origins of the movements of Judaism (Reform, Orthodox, Wissenschaft Judentum/Conservative); Haskalah; responses to anti-Semitism in the 19th Century; Zionism; Shoah (Holocaust); Judaism as it is practiced today.
