This course examines crime and criminal justice within the context of increased globalization. The topics of drug use and abuse, prostitution, terrorism, organized crime, war crimes and human rights abuses will be discussed within a global perspective. A major emphasis will also be placed on comparing different world systems of law and social control from legal, criminological and cultural perspectives. A major emphasis is placed on the comparison of Islamic, Socialist and Asian systems to European and North American systems. (Offered every year.) 3 credits.
