This course traces the rise and development of British civilization from the Glorious Revolution of 1688 to the present. Students will examine such topics as the British Empire, the Industrial Revolution, the development of parliamentary institutions, the changing role of the monarch, Britain in the World Wars, the special relationship with the United States, and Britain in the European Union. (Offered alternate years.) 3 credits.
