Prerequisite, Written Inquiry. Students examine the fiction of the most significant European writers from the ancient Greek and Roman romances to the 19th century French and Russian realists. Students read masterworks like Petronius' Satyricon, Cervantes' Don Quixote, Voltaire's Candide, Balzac's Pere Goriot, and Tolstoy's War and Peace.
