A survey of the continuing impact of Christianity in the modern West, with particular attention to the challenges presented by the Enlightenment, the age of revolutions, and the scientific and economic developments of the 19th century. Primary emphasis will be placed on the European experience of Christianity, but some attention will also be given to European missionary efforts and global Christianity in the modern era.
