Explores the ethnic factor in American politics and surveys the history of ethnic group politics in the United States, beginning with immigration during the late 1800s and ending with the African-American political movement of the 1960s and the ethnic groups immigrating from Third World countries in the 1990s. The course includes an examination of the political dynamics of these groups in the United States and the distribution of their political power in urban and suburban areas. This course satisfies the ethnic studies requirement for Core-21.
