This course provides an overview of the theoretical as well as practical foundations, and applications of language instruction approaches, methods, and techniques that are effective in the foreign language classroom in the K-12 school setting. Recent trends and historical approaches to teaching foreign languages, and their applicability will be investigated. The concept of communicative language teaching, and the appropriate connections with other disciplines will be made. Teaching demonstrations, and research critiques based on the learning and teaching principles of the class will be required. Prerequisite: Departmental approval Winter
