This course is designed to get a student's skills in the areas of reading, comprehension and vocabulary to the levels needed to meet the reading demands of college-level courses and to make reading enjoyable. Through the use of individualized text and video materials, discussions and exercises, and individualized conferences with students the following areas will be covered. Identifying main idea, supporting detail and sequence of events, locating facts, using context clues, drawing conclusions, identifying persuasion, making accurate inferences and identifying figurative language.
