An introduction to the art of wheel-thrown pottery. Students will have direct studio experience in mixing and wedging clay, preparing and applying glazes, working at the wheel, and participating in the firing of the pottery. The department uses electric and gas kilns with instruction in the various clay bodies and glazes. During the course the student is introduced to a diversity of examples in ceramic pottery from both eastern and western cultures through films and slides. Fall
