LECTURE, 2 HOURS; PRACTICUM, 12 HOURS This theoretical and clinical course focuses on the care of children from birth through adolescence. The effects of acute and chronic illness on growth and development are studied in the acute and community health care setting. Education of the child and family on health promotion, disease prevention, and safety issues are addressed. Ethical issues are discussed regarding the relationship of the child and family, including issues such as child abuse, informed consent, and the impact of diverse cultural and spiritual beliefs on health care decisions in the family.
