An introduction to organic chemistry with emphasis on nomenclature, physical characteristics and selected reactions. This course focuses on the simple functional groups with special attention given to carbonyl chemistry. Meets the general studies requirement in Nature if CHEM 112 and CHEM 114 are also completed. Prerequisites: CHEM 101 or high school chemistry, along with a minimum SAT or ACT or GPA as set by the chair of the Department of Biology and Chemistry
