LECTURES, 3 HOURS; LAB, 3 HOURS; DISCUSSION, 1 HOUR This is a general course in the basic laws and concepts of modern chemistry and the first of a two-semester sequence. Topics include atomic structure, chemical bonding, thermochemistry, stoichiometry, chemical reactions, solution chemistry, nuclear chemistry, and the behavior of gases. Meets the general studies core requirement in Nature. Prerequisites: one year of high school chemistry or CHEM 101, and MATH 110 or equivalent
