4 semester hours This course will explore basic elements of music including fundamentals, composers and musical eras. It will also explore organized musical groups, within the context of single (orchestras, bands, choirs) and combined groups, (those which produce festivals, operas andmusicals). Particular attention will be paid to the live music experience and to the development of active listening skills. The relationship between music and society will also be addressed. This exploration and experience will provide an overview of the visual, auditory and aesthetic dimensions of music. No prerequisites. Meets General Education "Aesthetic and Philosophical Expression" Group Brequirement.
