3 semester hours This course explores the interrelationships of the natural sciences and society through the study of a complex problem which includes aspects of biology, medicine, the environment, ethics, and human actions. The course will include readings, writing, class discussions, group projects, and presentations. Information will be gathered from a range of sources including scientific journals, popular literature, computerized literature searches and community resources. Prerequisites: Junior or senior with a minimum of 20 semester hours of course work in the natural sciences.
