Prerequisite: Completion of Foundation Studies 5 semester credit hours This class is designed to introduce students to the tools and techniques that can best help them achieve professional results using watercolor. In this class, projects and exercises designed to sharpen observation skills will teach students to understand the nature of surface and structure as it pertains to representing those things they wish to render. Emphasis will be on lighting, texture, composition, design, and edges, as well as continuing to develop their understanding of color and its possibilities. Students will learn basic wet-in-wet techniques, dry brush, tinting and glazing, as well as matting, proper presentation and the care of works on paper. As always, the students will be encouraged to develop a personal style that allows them to express themselves successfully using this challenging medium.
