An introduction to the constitutional doctrines and political role of the U.S. Supreme Court, focusing on its evolving constitutional priorities and its response to basic governmental and political problems. The course examines the nature of the Constitution and various theoretical approaches to interpreting it. Special emphasis is given to close textual analysis of various Supreme Court decisions.
