Immigration is always two stories: a leaving and an arrival. This course will consider the American immigrant experience through the perspective of literature. Novels, short stories, poetry, essays, and memoirs will be used to portray the struggle of creating new lives in an unfamiliar culture and language. Generally offered every year. 3 credits
