This course focuses on the research process and its significance to nursing as a discipline and a profession. Students develop basic skills needed to utilize research findings toward evidence-based practices in nursing. The emphasis is on critiquing published nursing research, promoting student understanding of their role as a discriminating consumer of research and utilizing research for continuous quality improvement in nursing practice and related areas. The course incorporates content related to ethical, cultural and collaboration issues in health care research.
