Ensembles in the Schools (3 cr.) A comprehensive course in leading public school choral and instrumental music programs, from late elementary (beginning band and chorus) through high school ensembles. Includes recruitment methods, book selection, scheduling, budgeting, rehearsal procedures and techniques, motivation and classroom management, with special emphasis on advocacy. MENC membership required. Includes 20 hours of field experience and a pre-student teaching clinical experience. ( Prerequisites: EDU 103, 201; MUS 202, 204, 215; piano proficiency; or consent of instructor.)
