Advanced illustration problems and techniques for magazines, advertising, fashion, children's books, newspapers and preparation of a professional portfolio. Media used by illustrators including specialized painting and drawing techniques will be studied with emphasis on the importance of style in contemporary illustration. Various markets will be studied to identify appropriate potential markets for student illustrations. Work with editors and art directors. Deadline development and portfolio preparation for each market type. Emphasizes topics not covered in Art & Design 358. Prerequisite: Art & Design 207, 208. 3 semester hours
