Description:
-
The interaction between politics and religion has historically been fraught with great challenges and difficulties both in the U.S. and elsewhere. This course seeks to explore that engagement by developing our understanding of fundamental political and philosophical questions raised by it. We begin from concerns more immediately familiar and relevant to us, and to a liberal society such as ours, and proceed to confront liberal approaches with later developments and radical criticisms. Prerequisite: Cannot be taken after Political Science 270. (Not offered 2008-09.) 1 unit.
