This course will follow the turbulent history and politics of China from the Boxer Rebellion of 1900 through the post-Mao reforms. Using primary documents, personal accounts, and scholarly studies, students will assess China's political and cultural changes and continuities in historical context. Prerequisite: Either 209 or 225 can be counted towards the Political Science and IPE majors, but not both. 1 unit - Price-Smith.
