Description:
-
A study of present-day Italian society through its history, literature and film. The starting point of the course is Neorealism, a revolutionary movement in cinema which became the repository of partisan hopes for social justice in the postwar Italian state. A selection of texts and films produced between 1945 and 1985 will attempt to show in what ways Italian society has fulfilled, and disappointed, the promise of Neorealism. This course will also serve as the culminating experience for the Italian Minor. (Also listed as Italian 320.) 1 unit - Bizzarro.
