History of African and African-American theatre, emphasizing the synergy between the two forms and the two continents from the griot-driven oral tradition and African folk-tale languages of performance grounded in the talking drum through American minstrelsy and other African-American musical and theatrical traditions (choreo-poems, performance art, jazz).
