Special topics in computer science not offered on a regular basis. Block 5: Topics in Computer Science and Web Security. This class teaches students the basics of how to design, test and write a secure computer application. The topics covered are cryptography, buffer overflows, intrusion detection/prevention, firewalls and secure web programming. Students will learn how hackers manipulate web applications using SQL Injection and Cross Site Scripting to surreptitiously change databases. They will then write their own applications and secure it. 1 unit - Department.
